A 58-year-old man named Paul Skinner was on a bike ride with some of his friends.
As they rode along a more secluded road, they saw something strange moving in a ditch by the roadside. They decided to go closer to see what was happening.
As they got closer, they discovered a frightened, apparently abandoned dog that was holding a bag in its mouth and trying to protect it.
But when they opened the bag, the men were shocked. There were 4 dead puppies inside the bag. It appeared that the puppies had all been born on the same day.
Horrified by what they saw, the men immediately called the police. They arrived on the scene along with representatives from an animal shelter, took in the dog, and named her Carly.

We can only hope that Carly finds a good family that will take care of her as she deserves. She is a heroine who, despite the heat and lack of food or water, decided to protect her puppies until the very last moment.
