The item was made public as Paris Fashion Week’s Spanish label debuted its Spring/Summer 2023 collection on an unusual covered runway. We previously addressed a problematic Balenciaga release: a trash bag-shaped handbag that retailed for more than $1,500. Some people saw it as art, while others thought it was a caricature of consumers.
Demna Gvasalia, the creative director of Balenciaga, was also observing everything. He also just lately introduced a brand-new product on the market. This time, it’s an odd wallet that looks like a bag of Lay’s potato chips.
Four models walked the runway while carrying the pricey bags as they displayed their creations in a variety of hues and “flavors” (Classic, Sea Salted Potato, Lemon). These are similar to Lay’s potato chip bags, with the exception that they are made of a lighter, softer, foldable material that may be used to “open” the bag rather than polypropylene. The bag costs about $2,000 instead, therefore the price is different from the cost of the chips.
The audience was warned by Gvasalia that he would not be talking about his most recent collection. The best equipment shouldn’t need a story to be promoted. The firm has once again been successful in getting people to talk about its product.
