The mountaineer conquered Mont Blanc and at an altitude of 4,800 meters was surprised to find that a box-like object was visible in the ice. Inside the rusty box were gems. The man became interested in the reason for the appearance of the object upstairs, and he went downstairs and began to study the archives. Very soon, the mountaineer came to the conclusion that the box had fallen from an airplane that disappeared over the mountains more than 50 years ago. The inscription on the box “made in India” helped the climber to get on the runway of the plane. Judging by the records, in 1966 an Indian plane actually disappeared over this part of the Alps.
The man did not keep the treasure for himself. As befits a respectable Frenchman, he took the box to the police. The local authorities also acted in accordance with the law: for eight years they tried to find the real owner of the jewels, or his relatives. But they have not been found. The authorities of Chamonix (the town where Mont Blanc is located), according to the rules in force, divided his find in two with the mountaineer. Each costs around 150,000 euros, the equivalent of 12 million rubles.
The treasure found by the mountaineer aroused the enthusiasm of the public. Fortune hunters have reached out to Mont Blanc, which also wants its share of the treasure.
