In early October, a fire brigade from Archuleta County, Colorado, was driving along a remote mountain road when they saw a small figure lying in the middle of the road.
Approaching it, they realized that it was a Chihuahua-type dog. The quadruped was almost motionless and clearly frightened. He looked offended.
“He was very afraid of being touched. We had to sit next to him for 20 minutes and give him some small pieces of muesli so we could go to him,” says one of the firefighters Eddie Tobin. He and his colleagues didn’t know how the little dog ended up in such a remote place. They believe that it was deliberately abandoned. The four-legged man was promised certain death. Luckily the firemen spotted him.
They took him to the vet in town. The specialist found that his ribs were broken on one side, probably after he was thrown out of the car or kicked.
He spent the whole night under observation, and the next day Eddie Tobin and his companion, who already had several dogs, welcomed him into their home.
