Nutmeg, his nickname, paralyzed his hind limbs due to an infection that reached his spine. However, this infirmity does not prevent him from living a full life next to his brother. Thanks to 2 associations, he regained his mobility and found a foster home.
A Kitten Place, located in Brandon, Florida in the USA, was entrusted with 2 young cats 7 months old.
One of them, Natmega, had both hind legs paralyzed. He moved only by crawling. However, he and his brother Sage were full of cheerfulness.
A clinical examination by the shelter’s partner veterinarian revealed that Nutmeg had contracted a serious infection. This reached the spine of a small cat, depriving him of motor functions. In addition, his heart is abnormally positioned upside down on the left side of his chest. However, this difference does not affect his health in any way.
«A Kitten Place wanted to give Nutmeg the help he needed to live a more active and independent life,» said Jennifer Pratt.
The kitten integrated his new mobile device really well and was able to regain his autonomy. After a quick adaptation, he roamed and played with ease.
Nevertheless, he stayed at the shelter to find a loving home for two helpers. Luckily, a Massachusetts couple fell in love with the duo. So Nutmeg and Sage crossed the United States from south to north to reach their last home.
“Veterinarians are optimistic. With the help of wheels, laser therapy and acupuncture, Nutmeg will one day regain mobility,” explained Sam Franciosa, new owner of Nutmeg.
