Taking care of her when she was still a very young puppy, the volunteers hoped to quickly find a family for Chance, but she has been in the shelter for many years.

However, they do not intend to give up.

In 2015, a couple discovered a homeless puppy in great danger, which was attacked by relatives of a much older age. He rescued a small dog who needed emergency care due to an attack she had just suffered.

She was taken care of by the team at Haven Animal Care Shelter, located in Lubbock, Texas. The volunteers named her Chance, after which she was taken to a veterinary clinic for treatment. She received stitches and made a full recovery. The incident, however, left a mark on his face, but the most profound consequences were primarily psychological.

Traumatized, Chance grew in fear every time someone tried to get close to her. Her fear and anxiety are still present today, but this dog just needs to be understood and given time. This is confirmed by Dr. Brenda Wilbanks, founder and director of Haven Animal Care. She saw Chance bond with the volunteers, getting used to their presence and recognizing them. Then she became much more confident and affectionate.

For 7 years, Dr. Wilbanks and his team hoped to find her the loving family she so deserves. They take care of her and let her know that she is loved. The chance may offer a lot of love and joy, but she has not yet been given the opportunity to do so.

The ideal for this bitch would be to settle down in a quiet home, without small children, because she is afraid of sudden movements, with patient owners to give her time to adapt to the new environment.

At Haven Animal Care, everyone strives to keep hope alive.
