Inspired By His German Shepherd, A Man Plans To Run An Ultramarathon In The Desert To Support A Shelter.

To thank and support the shelter from which he adopted his dog, the man will raise funds by taking part in one of the most difficult sporting events in the world. For him, the animal changed his life and the life of his family.

250 kilometers of running through the desert in the south of Morocco, in the heat and for a whole week… The Marathon des Sables is a huge challenge for the athletes who take part and it will happen again next March. Henry Wellesley has been preparing for this for some time, but he admits to Bristol Live that he is not a natural runner and is not a fan of camping or sand.

Despite this and the injuries that have marred his training, he is determined to compete, motivated by Zara and her story, as well as a desire to help the shelter where this life-changing dog comes from.

The mourning and then the joy of life are rediscovered thanks to Zara

Henry Wellesley was deeply affected by the loss of his dog. The mourning was especially painful for him, and at that time he had no intention of adopting another.

However, his love for animals prompted him to visit the Bristol Animal Rescue Center in the southwest of England. It was there that he met Zara, a German Shepherd, with whom he and his family fell in love. “Once we met her, we knew we had to give her a home,” he says.
