Having become a foster father for kittens from shelters, Abdul had never encountered animals before. His encounter with a young cat who needs to be rescued was a real turning point in his life.
At the time, the kitten was in a euthanasia shelter in North Carolina. I had to urgently look for a foster family for a young cat. When we contacted Abdul about this, he immediately agreed, despite his lack of experience.
Bambi suffered from anxiety, as did he. The more time passed, the more they became attached to each other and did each other good. To the point that he says that he believes that it was she who saved his life, and not vice versa.
Abdul was supposed to temporarily keep her for himself in preparation for adoption, but in the end decided to adopt her himself. A real alchemy arose between him and Bambi.
When she looks at him with her big eyes, he thinks she’s saying, “I’m here for you. I like you. Everything will be OK.»
«They have a little part of me and I have a little part of them»
With Bambi, he realized that his calling was to take care of cats. What he has been doing for 2 years now. “Sometimes I take 2 or 3 at once, because if they have siblings, I don’t want to separate them.”
In total, Abdul adopted 18 cats, who then permanently joined their families. Every time one of them leaves, for him it is both grief and joy.
